Domain Name Appraisals

Information on domain name appraisals.

Domain name appraisal is a new business which originated through the continuous buying and selling of domain names within the past decade. Simply put, domain name appraisals include methods in evaluating a domain name and determining its market value. Since most English language words have already been taken as domains, certain domain names may have higher market values to buyers than other names.

Most companies that offer domain names appraisals consider several factors when evaluating a domain name. These factors include: market potential, popularity, keyword recognition, retention level, length, genericism, clarity and its range of potential uses.

Since not all domain names are created equal, domain name appraisals have become the first, most important part in developing a website. Appraising and buying the most appropriate domain name will play a large role in the success of one's online business or popularity of a personal website.

There are no set values available for domain names. Since it is impossible to standardize the value or price of a domain name, domain registration companies offer appraisals to guide consumers. The fee for domain appraisals ranges from 10 to 50 dollars, but these services usually have discounts when a client asks for bulk domain appraisals.

However, you should realize that domain name appraisals are simply opinions; no company or person can conclude what a particular domain name is really worth.

Nevertheless, domain name appraisals can still be very useful. Not only does appraising your domain names provide you with a professional opinion, it also gives you a clue of what you should charge when you decide to sell your domain name, while giving justification to the price you will set.

If you really want to base your pricing on domain appraisal services, make sure to seek at least two or more opinions to compare prices and allow you to set the domain value within justifiable prices. A domain that is appraised with a high value may not necessarily sell easily; this is because a sale will depend on what domains other people are searching for at the exact time you placed your auction.
