The .travel registration is reserved for entities associated with the travel and tourism industry. The .travel is a top-level domain approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), and was launched in the year 2005. Tralliance Corporation is the authority responsible for issuing and registering the domain names under .travel code.

Any individual, governmental and non-governmental organizations, businesses cant register .travel. This includes bed and breakfast operators, travel agents, bus/taxi/limousine operators, car rental companies, passenger rail lines, ferries, attractions/theme parks, travel media, tourism bureaus, travel training institutes, airlines, and others in the travel and tourism industry can register this domain.

When applying for .travel registration, the registrants have to carefully observe all binding rules and policies. Certain policies are imposed for name selections as well. Registrations under .travel extension are allocated on a first come first served principle. The applicants for travel registration are required to get authentication from a recognized authentication provider. Once confirmed, the applicants will be provided a UIN (Unique Identification Number). This identification number has to be presented to a recognized .travel registrar when applying for registration.

The .travel domain names can include Latin alphabet letters A-Z, digits 0-9 and the hyphen symbol. However, the hyphen symbol appearing in the 3rd and 4th position is not permitted. The maximum allowed length for the selected domain name is 63 characters. The minimum length accepted for a domain name is 3 characters.
