.fk Registration

The .fk registration process is sponsored and managed by the Falkland Island government. Introduced in the year 1997, .fk is the (ccTLD) country code top level domain extension recognized for the Falkland Islands. Only those organizations associated with the Falkland Islands can register .fk domain names. You need to be a resident of the Falkland Islands in order to register an .fk domain.

The domain administrator has an important role to play, since he or she has absolute responsibility for everything to do with the .fk domain. The role of the domain administrator may be assigned to a particular individual or to a position within an organization. The communication facilities officer (CFO) is the administrative contact and has the responsibility of assigning domain names, managing and operating the .fk domain in the Falkland Islands. The technical contact is usually an Internet Service Provider (ISP) appointed by, and supervised by the CFO.

InterNIC is the responsible body for all matters concerning the .fk root domain space registration. The domain administrator provides the .fk domain name and charges a registration fee of $ 200.00 for a 2 year contract. Necessary information for the .fk registration process includes specifying the required domain name, the organization using the domain name, any registered trademark name, administrative details, and contact address.

Usually, second level and third level domain names are allowed. However, the .fk registration rules allow only third level sub domains.
