.fm Registration

How do you register a .fm domain name?

The .fm extension is the recognized country code top level domain name for the Federated States of Micronesia, islands located in the Pacific Ocean. Registering an .fm domain is available to entities connected with the Federal States of Micronesia.

The FSM Telecommunication Corporation is the organization that sponsors the .fm domain registration process. FSM Telecom has assigned the complete responsibility of managing and registering its top level domain .fm to BRS Media. The coveted .fm extension is marketed and assigned to entities in the broadcasting and internet industries by BRS Media.

A local presence is not required. A registrant has to pay a fee of one hundred dollars per year for registering an .fm domain name. The domain name has to be four letters or more in length, excluding the extension. If the registrant opts to register an .fm domain with fewer than three letters before the .fm extension, the fee would be two hundred dollars per year. Depending on the domain selected, the premium .fm domain names have different registration fees beginning at $250 for the first year. After the registration is processed, you will be notified via email at the billing e-mail address provided. Within 24 hours of that notification, your domain name will be active on the internet.

There are some rules regarding .fm registrations. The domain name can be 3 to 26 characters long. All letters (A — Z), numbers (0-9) and hyphens are available to used, but hyphens cannot appear at the beginning or directly in front of the TLD. Upper case and lower case characters are not considered distinct from each other. A domain name cannot have spaces or other special characters.

A person is allowed to register multiple .fm domains. You also have the opportunity to renew an existing .fm domain name. The registration fee has to be paid at the time of registration and it is usually for a period of one year. The .fm registration renewal fees have to be paid thirty days before the registration period ends.
