.jm Registration

How do you register a .jm domain name?

The .jm extension was introduced in the year 1991 and serves as the top-level domain for entities connected with Jamaica. The .jm extension has an active status in the domain name registry and no .jm registration restrictions are known so far. A person located outside Jamaica, or a company or organization in another country are allowed to register any number of domain names. The most striking feature of .jm registration is that the residents and businesses in Jamaica receive a discounted domain name registration price. Since registrations are processed manually rather than automatically, .jm registrations will be completed within only 30 days.

Domain name management and the process of registering .jm domain names is handled by the University of West Indies. An online application form must be filled out and submitted. Applicants are notified of the successful registration of their domain via e-mail; they are also sent a web link where they can access their payment information. The domains registered must have a capable administrative assistant and technical support contact to enable smooth functioning.

Domain price rates for all international orders are US$29.95/year; if paid online, it will be US$19.95 and in the case of bank payments, JA$1500/year for all residents and businesses in Jamaica. The non-profit organizations and government organizations in Jamaica have to pay JA$1000/year, if the payment is made through the bank. Online payment will be US$9.95/year. Schools and educational institutions in Jamaica are exempted from payment.
