A .pw registration is the best way to easily associate your organization with the nation of Palau and to provide it with a unique identity. The .pw top level domain extension was assigned by ICANN for the Republic of Palau, an island nation in the Pacific Ocean, in 1997. The Micronesia Investment and Development Corporation is the sponsoring organization and all registry needs are met by PW Registry Corporation. The .pw extension is used to create domain names as well as meaningful email addresses.

A .pw registration is open to all globally. Those registering under .edu.pw, .gov.pw and .org.pw must be within the Republic of Palau. Organizations registering under non-commercial organizations must be registered at the office of the Corporate Registrar, or must prove his/her non-profit status in Palau. A single entity can register a number of domain names.

The .pw domain name can include English alphabets, numbers and the hyphen symbol. The hyphen cannot be used at the beginning or end of the domain name. The domain name can have one to sixty four characters in it. Domain names consisting of numbers alone are not allowed.

As per the application purpose, second level domains are available for use. Such sub domains are:

• .com.pw for commercial use
• .net.pw for technology service provider
• .org.pw for non-commercial organizations
• .edu.pw for educational institutions, in which case the registrant must possess ministry of education (or PCC) certification
• .gov.pw for governmental agencies in Palau
• .belau.pw for tourism and general purposes

The .pw domain name registration can be carried out only through registrars. Choose a registrar from the list of registrars available at the website http://www.pwregistry.pw. All necessary information and guidance for registration are supplied by the registrar you choose. The registration fee varies from one registrar to another. Fresh registrations are valid for a period of two years and thereafter you can renew the service for a period ranging from a single month to a number of years. Through the registrar, it is possible to transfer, modify, renew or delete .pw registrations.
