.sc Registration

How do you register a .sc domain name?

The .sc extension is the Internet country code top-level domain (ccTLD) created for individuals and organizations in Seychelles.

The authority to administer the .sc registering process is wholly vested in .SC TLD Administration. The IANA accredited sponsoring organization for .sc registration is VCS (Pty) Limited in Seychelles. With the goal of promoting maximum Internet usage and domain registration in Seychelles, the .SC TLD domain administration offers entirely free domain name registration for government ministries (.gov.sc) and educational and academic institutes (.edu.sc) of Seychelles. The annual registration fee for local Seychelles based companies is SR200 per annum and for foreign domains US$95 per annum.

The registry does not support two letter domains (for example: .co.sc). The naming format should be in the form of abc.sc. Some of the second level domains allowed by the registry are:

  • .com.sc: for commercial or for-profit organizations.
  • .net.sc: for network infrastructure machines and organizations.
  • .org.sc: for miscellaneous, usually non-profit, organizations.

Except for para-static organizations and private schools, free registration is offered for the following categories.

  • .edu.sc: for schools, libraries, and museums registered under country domains
  • .gov.sc: for government organizations as well as military and paramilitary bodies

The domain name dispute policy of .SC TLD domain Administration has been approved by ICANN and the resolution policy can be accessed at the website http://www.icann.org/udrp/udrp-rules-24oct99.htm for your reference. In keeping with the terms of your Registration Agreement and other legal requirements, the registry can transfer, modify or cancel registered domain names. The registrant has to face a compulsory administrative proceeding if his registered domain name is used in bad faith or is indistinguishable from or too similar to an already existing domain name. In the event of a pending administrative proceeding, you are not allowed to seek another registrar for your domain. You can easily obtain a .sc registration at http://www.nic.sc.
