We've built quite a business around www.webbiographies.com! It's a place where people can write their memoirs, build their family tree, and preserve and share their photos and scrapbook mementos. We have thousands of users and we are actively building what we hope will become a "MySpace for grown-ups". Better, in that we preserve a person's legacy forever. As Socrates said in 425 B.C. 'A man will live for as long as he is remembered.' We couldn't have done it without you!"
- Scott Purcell, President, Web Biographies

NameMedia today announced its new Direct Search platform to give online advertisers access to its rapidly growing network of search destinations that already reach more than 25 million consumers monthly.
Previously known as YesDirect, NameMedia is backed by Highland Capital Partners and Summit Partners. Over the last year, it has acquired a leading domain reseller, BuyDomains, a leading domain "parking" service, GoldKey, and dozens of smaller domain collections to create a portfolio of more than one million domain names, the world's largest.
"Domain names are the real estate of the Internet," said Conlin. "They provide opportunities to buy, sell and develop property. With such a large collection of undeveloped real estate, we have a compelling platform for creating a media company that leverages Direct Search while continuing to be the leading buyer and seller of premium domain properties."

Many sectors of the economy, including real estate, have been completely transformed over the past ten years by the growth of the Internet. This has impacted the demand for, and the value of domain names.
Domains are driving interactions with consumers in many ways: personalized realtor sites offer daily property updates, online listing services allow consumers to research homes and neighborhoods, and sites like zillow.com even allow pricing comparisons on specific properties.
Realtors are even buying domains in order to create micro-sites showcasing individual listings, providing differentiation in a marketplace with record high inventory levels.
This shift in consumer behavior drives strong demand for real estate-related domains as the Internet plays an increasing role in agent selection, property viewings, and geographic targeting.
NAR studies show that as a result of viewing listings online:
- 75% of prospective buyers drove by or previewed a home
- 57% walked through a home viewed online
- More than 3 in 4 used the Internet in their home search
