February 2007
Recent reports indicate that 2006 ended with a bang for US business — the economy grew at a 3.5% clip in the fourth quarter.
According to Businessweek: "Some 55% — the highest share in nearly three years — of small-business owners say
they plan to hire one or more workers, and those who expect higher sales next year outnumber those who expect sales to be lower."
In examining leading indicators affecting small business in 2007, The National Federation of Independent Businesses cites business owner concerns over the tight labor market as a major worry. On a brighter note, however, there appears to be little to suggest that the Federal Reserve is going to raise interest rates, and energy prices have remained relatively stable.
With continued growth and strong investment in the business sector, entrepreneurs should find 2007 a profitable year.

Looking for some innovative, cost-effective or clever ways to build your business worldwide? Explore the possibility of using a ccTLD domain to broaden your business base.
The Wikipedia offers some terrific information about country code extensions: "Lenient registration restrictions on certain ccTLDs have resulted in domain names like I.am, start.at and go.to."
There is also an interesting phenomenon where "domain hacks" — using the second-level domain and ccTLD together to form one word or one title: blo.gs of South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands (gs), del.icio.us of United States of America (us), for example.
Visit Wikipedia to see which ccTLDs are available for general registration.
Keyword buys, search engine optimization...what you need to know to get seen on the web.
Of all the strategies you use to promote your business online, the most important by far is search engine marketing.
Search engine marketing (SEM) is a term that encompasses both paying for a prominent position in search engines and directories,
as well as going through a process called search engine optimization to ensure that your site becomes visible through natural or "organic" means.
The process of paying for good positioning was once equated with SEM, but it's a broader term now. Your SEM strategy can be limited to paying for placement, earning placement by optimizing your sites and having them recognized by the search engines or a combination of both.

Search for Domain Names:

In the red-hot domain aftermarket, where existing domain names are bought and sold, domain valuation is inefficient and highly subjective. Domain buyers and sellers have no proven method of assessing a domain's true value.
To address this need, NameMedia domain marketplace properties BuyDomains
and Afternic have partnered to create the industry's first quantitative Domain Name Index Scoring and Appraisal System - also known as a DNI Score™.
Each DNI Score and Appraisal consists of a domain name ranking across eight individual categories ranging from language and subject matter to branding potential. A final DNI Score on a scale 1 - 100, the DNI categorical analysis and a monetary appraisal are all provided for each domain in a single comprehensive document.
