Hugo Burge, Founder of HereOrThere.com, is no stranger to online travel having worked in the industry for over 7 years. He and his business partner, David Soskin, were involved in a management buy-in of Cheapflights.com in March 2000.
Since 2000 they have grown Cheapflights from a 3 person operation to an 80 employee business with offices in London, UK and Boston, MA (US).
When it comes to the Internet, Location = Simplicity + Meaning
When it came to start his new venture, finding a domain name proved to be a bit of a challenge. Explains Burge, "I started with a huge list of possible names. I even carried a pen and paper round for at least three weeks — it drove my friends and family nuts!"
He was able to cut the list down to what he felt were the top five names by looking at international availability, common sense and simplicity.
"I love domain names that are simple, do what they say on the tin, and mean something. On the web you are only one click away from other options and it pays to be able to see that a site is relevant before you click."
The final name, HereOrThere.com, was purchased from BuyDomains in 2006. The site launched in beta in May 2007 — once again, with a founding team of just three.
